SaskBJJ Club Support Grants

At the Saskatchewan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (SaskBJJ), we are committed to supporting the growth, safety, and long-term success of our affiliated clubs and athletes. Through targeted grant programs, we aim to help clubs enhance their facilities, increase access to quality instruction, and reduce financial barriers for athletes. Below are the current grant opportunities available to SaskBJJ club members:

1. SaskBJJ Seminar Grant

Supporting Coach & Athlete Development

To encourage skill development and knowledge-sharing within the province, SaskBJJ offers a $1,000 Seminar Grant to clubs hosting instructional seminars or workshops.

  • Maximum grant amount: $1,000

  • Purpose: To help clubs bring in qualified instructors for educational seminars

  • Eligible uses include:

    • Instructor fees or travel costs

    • Venue rental

    • Seminar promotion

    • Equipment or materials related to the event

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a current SaskBJJ member club in good standing

  • Seminar must be open to SaskBJJ members

  • Clubs may receive one seminar grant per year

  • A short event summary and feedback report must be submitted after the seminar

2. SaskBJJ Defibrillator (AED) Grant

Enhancing Club Safety

SaskBJJ believes in prioritizing athlete safety through proactive measures. The AED Grant helps clubs acquire automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for their training spaces.

  • Club cost: $500

  • Remaining AED cost covered by: SaskBJJ

  • Includes: AED device, wall cabinet, signage, and training information

This life-saving initiative has already been implemented by the following clubs:

  • Oxbow BJJ

  • Control BJJ

  • Complete Martial Arts

  • Expedition Jiu Jitsu

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a current SaskBJJ club member

  • Clubs must commit to the $500 contribution

  • Priority may be given to clubs without nearby emergency services

3. Athlete Support Grants

Reducing Financial Barriers for Competitors

SaskBJJ provides Athlete Grants to support provincial athletes who demonstrate commitment, sportsmanship, and financial need. These grants may help cover costs associated with:

  • Tournament registration fees

  • Travel and accommodation

  • Training camps or development programs

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be an active SaskBJJ member in good standing

  • Must be competing at a recognized provincial, national, or international event

  • A coach recommendation and short personal statement are required

  • Funding is limited and awarded based on availability and need

  1. Contact the appropriate program email listed above

  2. Complete the corresponding application form

  3. Submit supporting documentation if required

  4. Provide a follow-up report after using the funds
